About ClearMind Quit

Why it exists, what it will not do, and who to shout at when it gets something wrong.

Why this exists

Most quit apps are built around the wrong moment. They are polished, calm, and designed for the evening when you are thinking about quitting — reading a plan, setting a date, watching a counter go up.

That is not where quits are lost. Quits are lost in the ninety seconds outside a shop, at the fourth drink, on the third bad day in a row, when the decision is live and you need something in your hand right now.

ClearMind Quit is organised around that moment. Craving Rescue is the first thing on the screen, not the fifth. It works offline and without an account, because a support tool that needs a signal and a login is not available when it matters.

The second thing it is built around is what happens after a slip. Apps that reset your counter to zero teach people to hide slips, and hidden slips become returns. So we record the day honestly, keep every other day you earned, and go straight into what to do next.

Who builds it

ClearMind Quit is built and run from Kilkenny, Ireland by a small independent team. We are not a healthcare provider, we hold no clinical qualification as a company, and we are not affiliated with the HSE, the NHS or any other health body. Our content is informed by publicly available cessation guidance from those bodies, and it is our responsibility — not theirs — if we get it wrong.

The product is early. There are no published quit rates, no user numbers worth quoting, and no testimonials, because we have not earned any of those yet. When we do, they will appear here with the consent of the people who gave them.

Where we stop

These are hard boundaries, enforced in the product rather than stated as intentions:

  • We do not diagnose. Not a condition, not a symptom, and not nicotine dependence. The question about how soon you smoke after waking shapes when support appears in your day — it does not produce a score or a label.
  • We do not prescribe. No product recommendations, no strengths, no doses, no advice on combinations. Ask a pharmacist — the app will send you to one, and the AI is bypassed entirely for dosing questions.
  • We do not claim endorsement. No health body has approved, reviewed or partnered with this product.
  • We do not quote figures we cannot attribute.Including success multipliers published about national quit services, which describe those services rather than this app.
  • We do not read what you write.Journal entries, chat messages and craving notes are never sent to product analytics, and never reach an employer in the workplace programme.
  • We do not use urgency to sell.No countdowns, no fake discounts, no implication that people on the free tier are less committed.

What we would tell a friend

If you are in Ireland or the UK, your free national stop-smoking service is a genuinely strong option, and it is free. Use it. If an app like this helps alongside it, good — but we are not going to pretend software is the strongest thing available to you when it is not.

Digital self-help does not work equally well for everyone. If this is not helping you after a fair go, that is information about the tool, not about you.
